Open for Rye Bonfire !!

Just a quick reminder to all that follow Fletchers Blog.

That we will back open on Saturday 10th November, Rye Bonfire night we will be open for business as normal from 10.00am though closing @ 5.00pm so we also can enjoy the celebrations.

Should you require a table for Lunch or afternoon tea, please send an email info@fletchershouse.co.uk or alternatively call us we will be back in the UK from Thursday morning. 01797 222227

Holiday

To all our loyal, local & customers,

Just to let you all know we're are closing for our annual holiday, time to recharge the body & mind.

As it has been a long year for us. So below are the dates.

Our last trading will be Saturday 27th October, running a very limited Menu.

We will be back open for the Rye Bonfire Celebrations on the 10th November, at 10.00am as normal till 5.00pm

We're off to a sunnier climate, hope you don't miss us too much ?

5 months off - but I'm back !

So firstly many apologises for not having updated my blog, sorry forgive me.

Life at Fletchers & personally been very busy, having been looking after my dear Mum through breast cancer, but great news she has made a full & speedy recovery, after successful surgery & follow up treatment. Love you mum xxx

Recently one of dearest customer passed away, Fredrick Lees, so has been a sad time, for his family, us at Fletchers & a huge loss to Rye. He will always have a part in our life's. Sadly missed here at Fletchers. Always a different story from Freddie about his vey colourful life, every time he came to see us.

We send our love to Fletchers Grandma, Edna who took a very bad fall at home, she has been in Hospital for nearly 5 weeks, but due home very very soon. Edna was the first person i met when i moved to Rye 6 years ago now. come home soon darling we all miss you xxxx.

The Summer has been great, but hard work as always. So a big thank you from Pete & myself to all our staff who made this another successful summer.

Will also be closing near the end of the month for our Annual holiday. I will update the blog by the end of week, with the date were closed.

May's featured customer @ Fletchers - Valerie Olsen






Valerie Olsen ATD, NDD
Valerie was born in Chiswick 1926 and lived at Wimbledon Park, also Wimbledon Common for the first 40 years of her life. Aged nine she became a junior exhibitor at the Royal College of Music & studied piano there until 1942 ( becoming an evacuee at the beginning of the war in 1939)
She went to the School of Art at the Polytechnic, Regent Street, then in 1946 to the Institute of Education as a qualified Art Teacher, an ability to make things, she became enthusiastic & energetic member of the Schools Art Departments, particularly enjoying costume designing & prop making for the school play productions.
In the Advertising department of Bayer Pharmaceuticals she was responsible for the art work & exhibition designs for the ethical products, as well as press ads, for home & overseas publications. In due course Valerie moved to a Law publishers, producing similar publicity work & hob-nobbing with the legal profession in Chancery Lane.
In 1968 she left London for St Leonard's on sea, then later to Fairlight where she began making headdresses for Bernard Delfont productions, The Dance Studio. Valerie had her own interior design consultancy producing Hats for
London Fashion Week Catwalk Shows.
The last 15 years of her professional life were at Hastings College, becoming Senior Lecturer & Head of Fashion during which time she established the Annual College Fashion Shows at the De La Warr Pavilion at Bexhill.
Valerie in her earlier years, was keen yachtswoman. With here first husband she often sailed to France & the Channel Islands in there very small boat. Later crewing with different yacht owners seemed more hazarduous than surviving channels gales in her own boat.
Valerie has travelled widely, particularly in France, has ridden the mule trail down the Grand Canyon, painted in Petra & at the Pyramids, been grandmother of the bride groom in Sydney.
Now retired, Valerie paints & exhibits, she has a love hate relationship with a large garden, enjoying the fruits of her labour, but labour becoming more painful these days . . . . .
We would like to thank Valerie for a short glimpse into her life & pleasure to welcome & see her here at Fletchers, your a glamorous gorgeous lady.

Having attended school in Rye, (albeit on an ad hoc basis), Janet found it a bit difficult at first to enjoy the town. However those days are long gone! With three adult children, five grandchildren and a vast number of friends Janet is happily ensconced in Rye.
